Retiring Products

UNH IT urges clients using the following products to upgrade to a newer version or replace for best performance as noted in the software and hardware guide. Often, as a manufacturer releases a new product, the older products are no longer supported or updated by the manufacturer. In some cases, this can lead to a product that is no longer compatible with other necessary software/hardware, poses a security risk, or UNH IT has determined another product is a better fit for the university community. Please contact the IT Service Desk at 862-4242 to discuss replacement options.

Windows XP Pro SP3 **
(Microsoft has announced it will cease providing updates to Windows XP in 2014. UNH IT suggests migrating existing systems to Windows 7 by the end of FY13. Those who purchased Windows XP at the UNH Computer Store may already have a valid Windows 7 license. Contact the UNH IT Services Desk or the UNH Computer Store for assistance.)

(In early 2012, UNH moved to Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection (FEP) for faculty and staff antivirus protection. This software runs seamlessly while providing real-time protection against malware.
