UNH IT Academic Technology is announcing that laptop delivery services will be modified in order to responsibly allocate resources strategically toward providing support for newer classroom technologies like lecture capture. Starting in fall of 2012, our current pick-up service will be expanded to include a larger fleet of laptops to enable loaning laptops for use in classroom teaching. Laptops will be available at the Academic Technology Service Center, located on the 3rd floor of Dimond Library for faculty to reserve and borrow on a short-term basis.
The current method of laptop computer distribution via delivery is unsustainable. There is a pressing need to reallocate these resources toward enhancing usability and reliability of the existing and future technologies in the classroom. Coupled with this challenge is the support effort required to help faculty to master and transition to the use of new classroom technologies. Audiovisual Services is at a strategic crossroads, and to help meet the challenges described above, we will be providing loaner laptops solely on a pick-up/drop-off basis.
We will continue to support faculty use of technology in the classroom, and look forward to helping faculty build confidence connecting their personal, loaner, or department laptop or mobile device to classroom technology. We will provide classroom training sessions with customized documentation, and continue to provide emergency technology assistance through our Audiovisual Services Hotline at 862-2467.
